On Monday, Oct. 30, WiFi across campus was down, making classes and school work difficult to complete for much of the student body. With the internet connection issues beginning in the morning, CNU Information Technology Services sent out a campus wide email just before 2:30 PM.
In the email, Justin Davenport, Chief Information Officer, informed students, faculty, and all CNU employees that one of the “Aruba Wi-Fi controllers failed.” Although there are over 2,000 controllers, the one failing had a heavy impact on the every-day functioning of campus.
As of 2:30 PM the controller was back online however, “our Wi-Fi has not stabilized,” Davenport said. The internet and Wi-Fi finally stabilized around 4:30 PM the same day.
These connectivity issues came only a few days after a large portion of campus was supposed to lose network connectivity for the weekend. Due to the “necessary” relocation of conduits in support of the new Integrated Science Center, according to an email from Davenport on Oct. 24.
The campus was made aware that this loss of connectivity will be rescheduled due to a “vendor conflict,” Davenport said in a follow up email.
