The Campus Activities Board will host a Farmer’s Market on April 12 from 4-6 pm on York Street. CAB member Maya Jefferies brought back the idea, which was then put into production. This will be the first time the market has been hosted since COVID-19 occurred.
The Farmers Market will aim to have a mix of student-led businesses and community businesses for students to look at and shop from. CAB’s current Leisure Chair, Emma Faith, explained that any CNU club and business organizations that would be interested in attending should fill out an interest form that CAB released before spring break.
The event will also be open not just to CNU students but also to members of the community. Faith explained that she would like to see collaboration between both groups for this event.
“This event is heavily focused on bringing both the CNU community together but also the local Newport News community,” said Faith.
There will be something for everyone at the market, as Faith said that she is expecting a good mix of “student businesses, produce, jewelry, accessories and student crafts.”
CAB is also aiming to get some exclusive handouts for students at the event as well. When asked what she was most looking forward to for the event, Faith responded, “I’m excited to just kind of see everyone come together to support one another,” she said.
