ABC News reported on September 28 that an Israeli airstrike “killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut.” NPR reported on September 29 that many US leaders have deemed the killing as an “appropriate action,” including President Biden who called it “a measure of justice for his many victims.” As of October 1, Reuters reported that Israeli airstrikes killed at least 37 people in Gaza. AP News reported that Iran launched approximately 180 missiles into Israel. AP News reported, “Hezbollah has vowed to keep firing rockets into Israel until there is a cease-fire in Gaza with Hamas.”
Military strategists have raised concerns about the potential threat of China invading Taiwan. CNN reported on October 1 that Chinese leader Xi Jinping vowed to “reunify” “with Taiwan on the eve of Communist China’s 75th birthday.” Simultaneously, Reuters has reported that Taiwan is bracing for impact from imminent Typhoon Krathon. CNN Reported that the typhoon is “equivalent to a Category 4 Atlantic hurricane.” Although it is expected to weaken, it was anticipated to have made landfall in Taiwan on either Wednesday, October 2 or Thursday, October 3.
