Disney Channel is best known for offering seasonal content in the form of their Disney Channel Original Movies and shows. People may write off Disney Channel Halloween episodes as too childish to watch now as an adult, but these episodes are perfect for spooky season. Disney Channel has been creating unique, spooky, and sometimes even hilarious Halloween episodes of their best shows, year after year. With Halloween around the corner, here are the top five Disney Channel Halloween episodes.
-
Sonny With A Chance: “A So Random Halloween Special”
This episode focuses on Halloween-themed sketches. One of the most memorable includes Sonny and Tawni as employees in a store similar to Trader Joe’s as they deal with monsters instead of regular customers. In the usual sketches themed around Trader Joe’s, the two aren’t the most effective retail employees. When faced with potential monsters, their skills seem even worse, whether they even notice they’re dealing with monsters or not.
-
Jessie: “The Whining”
“The Whining” offers a kid-friendly and funny version of something adults will appreciate: The Shining. The horror movie has been one of the most loved for decades, and there have been plenty of parodies or nods to it within the horror genre. Children’s programs don’t usually attempt something like this.
-
ANT Farm: “mutANT Farm 3”
Each season of ANT Farm features one chapter of the “MutANT Farm” episodes. While the first two are played like fantasy sequences featuring monstrous versions of the main characters, like China Anne McClain playing a Medusa, the final chapter, which aired during the final season of the show, reveals that these monstrous versions of the characters are actually from an alternate universe.
-
Wizards Of Waverly Place: “Halloween”
Wizards of Waverly Place gave fans a fun and memorable Halloween episode in season 3 of the series. In the episode, The Russos are being threatened with having their haunted house segment taken away from them because it’s not entertaining enough for the neighborhood. Alex is determined to change that this year, so she visits the wizarding world to get some real monsters for their haunted house. The monsters aren’t as scary as Alex hoped, so she and Harper go back to the wizarding world to find the scariest monster of all: “Mantooth.” The episode acted as a great way to combine Alex’s usual antics involving magic with her desire to help her family and a few Halloween scares.
-
Hannah Montana: “Torn Between Two Hannahs”
In the episode, Miley gets an unexpected visit from her look-a-like cousin, Luann. But the visit turns ugly when Luann dresses as Hannah Montana and attends her wealthy friend Tracie’s Hannah-themed Halloween party in the hopes of exposing Miley’s secret to everyone. It’s one of the earliest episode to demonstrate the very real stakes of Miley’s secret identity being exposed, though it does it with the usual Disney Channel cheesiness of an identical cousin. The episode does, however, give Miley Cyrus the chance to play another character.
