If you’re anything like me, you are doom scrolling through Pinterest to craft the perfect fall wardrobe for the next couple months to come. However, sometimes it is difficult to keep up with the latest fashion trends; especially with the shortcoming “microtrends” that only last about a couple of weeks or months. Here, I have curated a perfect list of cute and trendy fall fashion trends to upgrade your wardrobe for the colder season.
- UGGs
These have been a staple in people’s wardrobes since 2010; not really making a comeback until 2023. These boots became popular for their comfy and basic style, while still adding character to the overall outfit. These boots are usually paired with a sweater or shrug and baggy jeans or leggings. When they started popping up again in 2023, it became increasingly difficult to find these boots in stores because they ended up being sold out everywhere, people buying them the second they see a pair in their size. This trend has not slowed down, as many more individuals are pulling out their UGGs for the colder weather to come. Overall, I personally think these boots are perfect because they are cute, comfortable, and will keep your feet warm. Not to mention, they come in a variety of colors and styles; therefore curating to everyone’s taste.
- Animal Print
This fall season, animal print decided to make a comeback, adding the perfect amount of boldness to any look. Whether you want to break out that oversized leopard print coat or even rummage your closet for that trusty zebra shrug that’s been hiding in there for years, these designs will bring out the best in any fall look you create. Paired with jeans and a basic white top, you have a casual and trendy fall fit. For a more bold look, you can pair any animal print with a red tank, a black skirt, and knee high boots. This outfit is perfect for going out and taking those cute and aesthetic photos for social media. The combinations with animal print are endless as animal print can create both a casual or classy look with ease.
- Denim on Denim
This trend became very popular, and for good reason too. There has always been an unspoken rule in the fashion world where you couldn’t pair denim with denim because it looked too chaotic. Well, the internet bashed this rule by creating the fashion trend known as “denim on denim.” This trend included wearing more than one piece of denim in an outfit; even mixing up colors of the denim. An example of this being a denim miniskirt, a tank top, and then an oversized denim jacket (maybe in the same color or in a different color). Honestly, I wish people would have stepped outside of their comfort zones earlier because a majority of the denim outfits created always look so put together and well crafted. That is your sign to try “denim on denim” and see what cute outfits you can come up with. Stepping outside of your comfort zone in the fashion world can change your perspective on fashion as a whole and even increase your creativity.
- Ballet Flats
As someone who has taken ballet classes kindergarten through 5th grade, I had never understood why people would wear uncomfortable ballet flats for casual wear. While they are nonetheless uncomfortable, they can be the perfect staple to wear with any outfit. They go so well with a variety of styles and articles of clothing; my favorite outfit being a white blouse, black dress pants, and then ballet flats in black. They are so cute and dainty and can easily tone down any outfit without making the whole outfit feel like too much. Not to mention, that they come in a variety of colors, ranging from neutral tones such as black, white, and beige to more bold colors such as red and maroon. Currently, I am on the hunt for maroon ballet flats because I’m in love with them so much. My suggestion is to just make sure that you have bandaids on you, as you will potentially get blisters on your heels!
- Maxi Skirts
One of my favorite fall fashion trends by far is all of the maxi skirts I have been seeing all over Pinterest. They are simply the cutest transition pieces from summer to fall and add a lot to an outfit. One of my favorite outfits I saw on Pinterest was a beige cardigan, with a denim maxi skirt, and ballet flats. Not only are these skirts cute but they are also a very comfortable outfit option; easy to move around in and perfect to protect your legs from the slightly colder weather. There are also a variety of maxi skirt options other than denim, such as leather, suede, lace, and simple cotton skirts, giving you a variety of looks that you can create. Either way, owning one of these skirts is a staple that you need in your wardrobe.
- Shrugs
Shrugs are a recent fashion trend that kind of emerged out of the blue after they went viral on social media. These types of cropped sweaters are perfect for the fall because they are a perfect layer to add over cropped t-shirts and tank tops. Not to mention, they come in a variety of colors and styles, my favorite being the neutral toned ones. A shrug can be perfectly paired with a neutral tone tank top, baggy jeans, and any type of boots or tennis shoes. Not only can they be styled in the cutest way, but they can keep you warm during the transition from summer to fall. This should be an important staple in your wardrobe as it can be styled in a variety of ways.
I hope this article helped you find the perfect items to have in your wardrobe during the colder season. Remember to not only dress stylish, but also dress warm for the colder weather. Wearing something that makes you feel good will make you feel confident and ready to tackle anything, so find your style and incorporate that into these fall fashion trends.
