I have a little list of pet peeves. Snack wrappers crunching, slow walkers, bad drivers, etc. But one thing that never fails to irk my nerves is people who can’t seem to stop talking in class. I get it. You have classes with friends you don’t see often and you wanna update them. However, in the middle of our 2 PM lecture with almost 100 people in it is not the place to spill the tea. Everyone in the class is paying both time and money to be there. We aren’t paying to listen to you yap.
I have two big lectures this semester. In both of them, there always seems to be a group of people who think it’s the best time to chat. Sometimes, I don’t find the material particularly interesting myself. However, it’s still respectful to close your traps and not talk over the professor. If it’s something that’s really that important, just text your friend. I’ve been there and done that. Not proud to say that I was texting in class, and I’m certainly not condoning it. However, it’s better than talking in the middle of a lecture.
Not only is talking in the middle of class disrespectful, but doing it at such a loud volume to where the professor calls you out is even worse. Like, at that point, it’s just embarrassing. It’s literally a 50 minute class. Listen to the lecture you’re paying for. I swear that the people who decide to talk in class don’t know how to whisper. They talk at a normal volume and I don’t know how they aren’t embarrassed to be doing that at this age. All this to be said, just shut it for 50 minutes dawg.
