Going through the stresses of life with one another, Katherine and I have made it our ultimate mission to try as many different food places around Newport News as we can before the end of the semester. Because we both had a desire to try Thai, we decided to drive to Anya Thai, a place only three minutes away from Christopher Newport University. When we first arrived, it was around 5:30 and the place was incredibly empty. Katherine and I assumed that people probably take out more than they dine in, especially being so close to the university. The place was nicely decorated and the menus had so many different options that Katherine and I couldn’t make up our minds.
When we went to order our food, we were torn between the basil rice and the pad thai. After pondering forever, Katherine and I both got the pad thai with a side of spring rolls to share. We got our spring rolls very quickly and they looked incredibly delicious. They were served with a side of peanut sauce and sweet and sour sauce. Katherine and I each had two and we finished them very quickly. I’ve never tried peanut sauce before but it was so good. Afterwards, our pad thai came and it also looked incredibly delicious. The portion size was massive and Katherine and I knew right off the bat that we were going to be taking home leftovers. The pad thai came with noodles, bean sprouts, scallions, and crushed peanuts. For my first time trying pad thai, I would give it a 9 out of 10. It was so delicious. Katherine also loved her pad thai.
The total for our meals plus the spring rolls was around 19 dollars for both of us. We would say for the quality and quantity of the food, the price was amazing. I ended up eating two more times from my leftovers and Katherine was able to keep her leftovers for a while as well. Katherine and I will definitely be coming back whenever we are craving Thai food. The place is just so cute, the waitresses are so friendly, and the food is very good.
