Press Conference
On Jan. 7, 2025 at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, the President-elect held a press conference highlighting key issues and plans he has for taking office. According to a recording released by AP News, Trump stated that at a later date he plans to announce that he is “going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring.”
Trump claims this initiative is in opposition to his former opponent, President Joe Biden. The push for change stems from ongoing tensions the United States has faced with Mexico
“Because we do most of the work there and it’s ours,” Trump said.
‘Hush Money’ Case
AP News reported on Jan. 10 that the President-elect was found to be sentenced to “no punishment” in the ‘hush money trial’ in which Trump was facing 34 felony accounts for “falsifying business records” to cover payments made to an adult film star.
According to the National Public Radio (NPR), this means “he will not face fines, prison or any other penalties.”
