The university’s grand ballroom shimmered with the glow of chandeliers, awaiting guests to arrive in their finest attire, eager to partake in the annual Captain’s Ball, a night of elegant revelry and cherished tradition.
Every year, The Campus Activities Board (CAB), an organization on campus responsible for putting on events on campus, comes up with a theme for the ball. This year’s theme was tranquil tides; showcasing the beauty of the deep blue sea. The ballroom was decorated with statues of Triton and faux aquatic vases were placed on each table. The centerpiece of the entire ball was a beautiful chandelier of circular ornaments with faux gems inside, creating the effect of bubbles in the air. These decorations were loved by many, including CAB Vice President of Operations, junior Lara Elkhalifa. “I thought that the decor and the theme was very cute,” she said.
Not only were the decorations mesmerizing, but the food options this year were also delicious. There were many food options available at the ball, including shrimp, crab cakes, chicken tenders, caprese salad cups and a chocolate fountain with various fruits and desserts to dip in. “I enjoyed Captain’s Ball because [of] the food… I’m a big seafood person, so the shrimp was very great” senior Caleb Funnell said.
Overall, many people had such a fun time. The Captain’s Ball was a resounding success; a night filled with laughter, joy and cherished memories that will last forever. “Captain’s Ball was so much fun, it felt like what prom was supposed to be,” senior Jordan Vrchoticky said.
