GOOD NEWS! This year’s Fat Bear Contest, a week when bears gouge themselves with an overstock of fish before hibernation, took place to crown a winner of who’s the fattest bear; a winner was chosen! Chunk, a bear whose jaw is broken, swept away the competition. Chunk weighed approximately 1,200 pounds at weigh in!
More good news, Lucas Jemeljanova of Belgium became the first person in history to beat terminal brain cancer! At just six years old, Lucas was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of a cancerous tumor known as DIPG. Scientists will continue to study his cancer cells in hopes to find some answers.
