Every tutor has a different working schedule, so make sure you choose a time that works for both you and your tutor. To make an appointment at the tutoring center, visit mycnu.edu and type in ‘tutoring’ in the search bar. Then select the first option that comes up. You will be taken to a new screen and should select ‘Tutoring Sign Ups and Schedules For Test Reviews And More.’ Then find a tutor that is tutoring in your subject, and make an appointment.
When you do make an appointment with the tutoring or writing center, make sure you are selecting someone who is specifically tutoring in the subject that you need. Tutoring appointments can range anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the course content. While the CCS is more prominently known for its tutoring appointments, they also host study sessions, exam reviews, and bigger events such as “Long Night Against Procrastination” which helps students prepare for their final exams. The tutoring center takes pride in ensuring that all students are heading in the direction towards success. M
As a tutor myself, I have had a wonderful experience working with the CSS to ensure that students are excelling in courses that they may be struggling in. It is such a rewarding and amazing experience to see concepts click for tutees and being able to help them out when concepts are confusing. However, it’s not just me who feels this way, but everyone who works for the CSS. Senior Genna ‘Gia’ Mckenzie, a political science and English tutor shared that her favorite thing about tutor was “seeing things click for my tutees, and seeing them understand new concepts”. Despite tutoring for only one semester, Gia loves her job. Alongside the tutoring center, the writing center has also had great experiences with their tutees. Senior Natalea Odell shares that the best part of her job is “hearing and learning everyone’s unique ideas, experiences, and styles.”
The CSS always aims to be a wonderful resource for the students of CNU. Whether you have a big exam coming up or you need help polishing up a paper, CSS will always be there for you. As the semester starts coming to a close, make sure you are scheduling your appointments so that you can ace your exams and papers!
