Prioritizing your mental, physical and emotional well-being is not only a good way to stay healthy, but it’s also essential to staying happy. However, it can be hard to find actual ways to do that. As I have navigated different ways to keep myself happy and in a good state, I’ve found some tips and strategies that I hope help you!
- Reading to fall asleep
I’m sure we all know that scrolling on our phone right before bed messes with our ability to fall and stay asleep. The blue light can affect our brain’s ability to shut off and therefore, making it hard to organize a good sleep pattern. A good alternative that I have recently tried from the suggestion of a friend is reading a book about 15-20 minutes before I turn the lights out. This way, my brain has low stimulation and the ability to shut off easier.
- Professional advice
In other words, therapy! One thing I always tell someone in my life who isn’t necessarily going through a struggle but may be having a bad day is to try talking to a therapist. Talking to someone who isn’t directly tied to your situation, even for something small, can make all the difference. It also will make you feel 10x better in the long run. Talk it out with them, that’s what they’re there for!
- Meeting small goals
When your mind is healthy, your body will naturally start to fall in place, and vice versa. Setting small goals in order to easily meet them is one way to boost dopamine levels and improve your overall health. These goals can be as small as making your bed or walking your dog. Even the smallest accomplishments can mean so much in the end. Boost those dopamine levels and set some small goals!
