When the weather gets really cold, it can be quite difficult to find things to do, especially if you cannot do anything outside. One of my favorite places to visit during the winter season is the Virginia Beach Aquarium located in Virginia Beach.
Located close to the ocean, this aquarium is home to many different kinds of reptiles and marine life. To gain access to the aquarium, you can purchase tickets online for 35 dollars per person.
When you first enter the aquarium, you have the option of taking a picture as a souvenir that you can purchase once you exit the attraction. Then your adventure begins. The first thing you’ll see when entering the aquarium are lots of fish and turtles in tanks. There are also sections specifically designed for kids to play around and experiment in.
Once you pass through this section, you get to a tunnel where you can walk through and see all sorts of fish. This tank had sharks and manta rays in it. Afterwards, the path divides into 2 and you can choose to look at sharks and turtles more up close and personal. There is even a section dedicated to reptiles such as snakes, frogs and lizards.
My favorite part of the aquarium would have to be the manta ray tank, where you can put your hands in the water and touch a manta ray. I could spend hours in here as they are super cute gliding across the water.
If you decide you go to the aquarium when the weather is warmer outside, you have the option to book a dolphin watching boat tour, which is very cool.
Overall, my experience at the aquarium never fails to disappoint me. I love getting to see so many different aquatic animals in one setting. Not to mention, this is the perfect place to spend the day with anyone, whether they are family, a friend or significant other.
If this sounds interesting to you, I highly recommend going and checking this place out.
