“In many ways,” Dayton Webber wrote in a 2023 letter to the TODAY show, “surprising people has always been part of my life.”
In 2022, Webber’s name filled headlines as he became the first quadruple amputee to become a professional cornhole player. In 2026, his name filled headlines again when he knocked another record off the list by becoming the first quadruple amputee to commit homicide while driving a Tesla.
Over the weekend, police allege that whilst behind the wheel Webber fatally shot Bradwick Michael Wells. While these claims have not been proven in court, there were two other individuals present in the car at the time of the crime.
On March 22, Webber and Wells entered a disagreement before Webber shot Wells in the head twice in La Plata, Md.
Webber attempted to have the two others in the car help him remove the body from the passenger seat. They declined and exited the vehicle. The two notified the police of the event and within two hours the authorities received a call about a body found in someone’s yard.
Webber fled Maryland, and was tracked to Virginia. Webber’s car was found in Charlottesville, where he was arrested as a fugitive by the Albemarle police at a local hospital after seeking medical treatment.
He is being held in Virginia and is awaiting extradition to Maryland. Once extradited, Webber will be charged with first and second degree murder. Webber has a criminal history and was on probation for some time as a result of driving on a suspended license.
Many have wondered how a man with no arms and no legs shoots somebody while driving a car. Webber has posted many videos firing rifles, one even titled, “no hands no feet shooting 9mm handgun.” According to his 2023 letter, he stated that teaching himself how to drive a car aided his professional cornhole career.
However, until Webber is tried for his crimes, everything is still alleged. He’s waived his right to an extradition hearing and there is no exact date known for when he’ll be transferred to Maryland.
