GOOD NEWS! Brittany Smith raised nearly $1 million for an elderly delivery worker after her ring camera captured him struggling up her front porch steps.
78-year-old Richard Pulley started working for DoorDash after his wife of 56 years was let go from her job at an insurance company. Although they receive Social Security, it just was not enough to cover their bills and his wife’s medication. Pulley has completed nearly 6,000 deliveries, often with his wife accompanying him on the road.
Pulley was identified after Smith posted her camera footage on Facebook asking for help identifying the “precious man.” The video racked up millions of views, with most people messaging Smith to help Pulley set up a GoFundMe. Although the fund had only been active for a week, it racked up a mind-boggling amount of over $975,000 from more than 32,000 donors.
After learning about Pulley’s story, DoorDash called him to thank him for his dedication to the job and added $20,000 to the sum.
Pulley, however, plans to continue delivery driving. While he did start doing it for financial reasons, working as a driver has another benefit: exercise.
