One woman dead after shooting on Warwick Boulevard
According to the Newport News Police Department, a 21-year-old named Kanye Smith was identified as the suspect for a fatal shooting in an apartment complex on Warwick Boulevard that left one woman dead on Nov. 11. Officers who responded to the call found 19-year-old Neveah Harris with a gunshot wound.
Smith was charged with second-degree murder, discharging a firearm in an occupied building and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to Wavy News. Newport News police said the incident appeared to be domestic-related.
A memorial was held for the victim over the weekend in Briarfield Park in Hampton. Harris was a mother of two young children. At this time, Nov. 17, no information regarding a motive has been released.
Teenager arrested as suspect in domestic-related homicide
Police arrest 18-year-old Kyron Jackson for allegedly killing Arthur Jackson, a 73-year-old resident of Hampton. A preliminary investigation revealed the homicide stemmed from a “domestic-related verbal altercation that escalated,” according to 13NewsNow.
The suspect allegedly had both a firearm and a knife, and used both to kill the victim.
Hampton Police have charged Kyron Jackson with one count each of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The incident, which happened on Nov. 15, was reported by a family member who requested a welfare check in the evening. Despite crime happening in the neighborhood before, neighbors described the block as usually safe and quiet.
Residents described Arthur Jackson as a helpful neighbor who often assisted with yard work and played with children in the area. Information on why the crime was committed has not been
