Walks

Temperatures are starting to rise making the perfect conditions for walks no matter what time of day. If you find yourself getting bored, grab a friend or a pair of headphones and enjoy a nice relaxing walk around the neighborhood.

Thrifting

My personal favorite is dedicating a day to thrift at local thrift shops and stores. Thrifting is perfect for when you want to go shopping but don’t want to spend a ton of money on clothes or miscellaneous items. It can be a great way to spend time, especially with friends or family.

Picnics

All you need for a picnic is food, a blanket and nice weather to enjoy a relaxing meal in nature. Hosting a picnic with all of your friends from back home is a great way to spend the evening chatting, listening to nature and enjoying good food. It’s also a great way to reconnect with nature after being trapped in the library for hours studying for midterms.

Amusement parks

Both Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens are open for business during the week of spring break. You could spend the day with the wind on your face and a thrill in your heart as you ride the different roller coasters and rides. Not into roller coasters? Volunteer to become the designated bag holder for all your thrill-seeking friends, or enjoy the other entertainment parks have to offer, such as games, amazing foods and shows.

Reading

It can be difficult to find time to read for enjoyment during the semester. Spring break is a great time to finish the book you started over winter that you brought back in the hopes of finishing. You can also visit your local library, Second and Charles or Barnes and Noble and curl up with a new series or your old favorites.

Binging shows

Do you have a show you really want to start or finish? Now is the perfect opportunity to sit back with a bowl of popcorn and relax. Streaming platforms such as Netflix and Hulu are made for binging during short breaks. Consider even hosting a movie night with friends and bringing themed snacks for the film.

Paint/Movie Nights

Need a night in? Consider hosting a paint night with friends from back home to catch up. You can try to paint portraits of each other for laughs, paint your favorite animal, or whatever comes to mind. watch classic rom coms while painting and enjoy snacks with your friends.
